McPherson Approved as Secretary of State

With little debate and without dissent, the state Senate has approved former state Senator Bruce McPherson as California´s 29th secretary of state, replacing Democrat Kevin Shelley, who resigned earlier this month. McPherson is a 61-year-old Republican. He was congratulateed by Democratic state Senator Debra Bowen, who is running for the state´s top elections
job next year.
