Large Tuolumne County Drug Enforcement Operation

It may have been one of the largest law enforcement operations in Tuolumne County. Sgt Jim Mele, head of the Tuolumne County Narcotics team, said that his officers were searching a piece of property on Draper Mine Road looking for methamphetamine. The search included officials from the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s narcotics teams, SWAT team members, California Highway Patrol, state Department of Corrections officials and the Army National Guard. The operation included an OH-58 helicopter in the air, a tank like vehicle on the ground and heavily armed SWAT team members emerging out of an armored vehicle.
