Man Breaks A Hip Running From Bear
Sandy Gulch, CA — A West Point man is recovering from injuries he sustained while running from a bear near his home.
The man told Calaveras County Deputies that the bear was in his trash when his dog approached the bear.
When the bear chased the dog away the man said he was afraid the bear was going to come after him and he ran to get away from the animal.
The Sheriff´s Department says the man fell down and broke his hip when he was running and was taken to Mark Twain St. Joseph´s Hospital.
Bears have also been spotted in Tuolumne County; residents of the Scenic Brook area of Phoenix Lake say a mother bear has been wandering around with her cubs the past few nights.
Homeowners in the area say it is very uncommon for bears to come down so low. Both incidents were reported to the State of California Fish and Game Department.
