Stolen Civil War Cannon Recovered In Mountain Ranch

San Andreas, CA — An 1847 Field Howitzer Cannon will soon be returned to the Peoples Cemetery in San Andreas 7 years after it was stolen.
The Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department recovered the civil war cannon from a pond in Mountain Ranch on Monday.
It was a joint operation between the Sheriff´s Department and the Calaveras County District attorneys office, which served a search warrant.
The cannon was submerged in about 3 to 4 feet of water and a backhoe was used to pull it out.
The cannon is being stored at a secure location and will be returned to it´s place of honor when the investigation is over.
