CHP Reminds Drivers Of Seatbelt Laws
Sacramento, CA — The California Highway Patrol is investing more than $3 million to remind drivers of seat belt laws.
CHP plans to post signs every 50 miles along highways and freeways reading “Click it or Ticket.”
The signs are already in place around the Bay Area with more to be posted on Highway 99 and Arch Road and on Interstate 205 at the junction with Interstate 5.
CHP says enforcement efforts will also increase, especially during holidays. Officers are also on the lookout for drunk drivers and speeders.
Authorities say the next major enforcement period will be Halloween.
Officials say more than 670 people died in accidents last year because they weren´t properly restrained.
