Investigators Suspect Arson In Seven Jamestown Fires
Sonora, CA — Investigators are looking into a series of fires in the Jamestown area overnight that are believed to have been intentionally set.
Chief Richard Imlach of CDF says a total of seven fires were ignited on both sides of Highway 108 beginning just before 11:00 around Harvard Mine Road. The last fire was discovered and put out just before 5:30 this morning.
The largest fire burned about an acre when two of the spot fires merged into one near the Jamestown Cemetery.
Imlach says some of the fires burned themselves out before crews got to them. A total of seven engines, one water tender and two handcrews responded with a battalion chief and an investigator.
Imlach says there were no injuries or property damage. Anyone with information about the fires is asked to contact CDF.
