A Day Against Violence

San Andreas, CA – Over the last year, there have been 4,500 cases of domestic violence and sexual assault in Calaveras County.
Those numbers hit close to home Monday when the Board of Supervisors officially recognized November 25 as International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women.
The day was established in 1999 by the United Nations. Locally though it was the Soroptimist Club and the Human Resources Council that brought the resolution to the board.
Friday, purple cards containing abuse prevention information will be placed in various public places.
