Casino Topping Off Celebration Set

Sponsored by:

Excitement has been building for months at Black Oak Casino as their expansion plans for the new Phase II 164,770 square foot casino move forward. During the week of May 17th, Tribal members, Casino employees and the construction crew will celebrate this milestone when the last steel beam is placed atop the three-story structure.

Due to the unpredictable nature of construction, a firm date has not been set for the topping off event. Later this week a Media Alert will be issued to inform the media of the ceremony´s date and time. The topping off process will provide a prime photo opportunity and media tours of the Phase II facility will be offered. Be the first to view the thee-floored structure and receive a guided tour of the key gaming and entertainment areas.

Meanwhile the work continues inside as the gaming and entertainment areas take shape. Concrete flooring will be completed soon on the 1st and 3rd floor. The sewer line and other underground utilities between the Warehouse and the Phase II building are nearly completed. Outside, crews will soon begin the installation of exterior siding and the roof. The main access road to the parking lots is scheduled to be turned over on May 26th. While Phase II progresses, Black Oak will open “The Warehouse”, which is a non-smoking Casino annex adjacent to the current casino. Opening in early July, The Warehouse will feature over 350 new slot machines and will offer smoke-free gaming for casino guests.

This temporary casino will initially open on weekends to allow guests access to more games during peak times. It will also provide Black Oak Casino with an opportunity to test a selection of new technology and comfort options that will be used in the Phase II facility including slot chairs, varying machine heights and other guest considerations. New table games will also be added to the existing casino at this time to match the increased demand for live gaming action.

The new Phase II facility is designed to optimize the entertainment experience with more gaming options including 940 slot machines and 24 table games, a non-smoking gaming area, three restaurants, two casino floor bars, a sports bar, an entertainment lounge with dance floor, a Players Club, and gift shop.

Phase II will also offer entertainment choices for families as well as players seeking a break from the gaming action. The casino will devote almost an entire floor to family-friendly entertainment including a family restaurant, a state of the art 24-lane bowling center and an arcade complete with the latest video and other interactive games.

Black Oak Casino in Tuolumne has been in operation since May of 2001. The casino is open during construction and currently houses 600 slot machines and six table games, along with a 24-hour Cafe. The casino is owned and operated by the Tuolumne Band of Mi-Wuk Indians. The Phase II project broke ground August 11, 2002 and is on schedule to be completed in December this year.
