Sonora, CA — An alleged shooting in the 17900 block of Lime Kiln Road occurred during the seven o’clock hour on Sunday evening.
Deputies responded to the scene and found a victim of a shooting, 60-year-old Eric Brandon Udall. Sheriff’s officials provided emergency life-saving medical aid until relieved by emergency medical personnel. Udall was transported to Adventist Health Sonora, where he was later pronounced dead.
An investigation led officials to determine that the incident began as a physical fight that escalated to a shooting. The suspect, 55-year-old Timothy Allen Boling, fled the scene prior to officials’ arrival. Deputies and detectives worked through the night pursuing leads and searching for Boling.
On Monday morning, the sheriff’s office publicly released pictures of Boling and his vehicle, and shortly after, several community members reported seeing him in Columbia State Historic Park.
The Sheriff’s Office reports, “As patrol deputies responded to the area, they were advised that a California State Parks Law Enforcement Officer had located Boling and was holding him at gunpoint. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office personnel arrived moments later and met with State Parks Officers who had safely taken Boling into custody without incident.“
Boling was transported to Tuolumne County Jail and booked on a charge of murder. He is a convicted felon and was legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. At the time of this incident, he was also under Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS).
