The blaze broke out just before 3 p.m. on Sunday (7/26/26) on Highway 108 near Mill Villa Road, forcing evacuations and road closures in downtown Sonora. Deputies will be patrolling the areas under evacuation throughout the day as fire personnel continue to work the fire.

The Dove Fire broke out just before 3 p.m. on Sunday (7/26/26) on Highway 108 near Mill Villa Road, forcing evacuations and road closures in downtown Sonora. Additionally, as we reported last night, CAL FIRE spokesperson Emily Kilgore tells Central Sierra Broadcasting that two firefighters were injured and taken for evaluation by medical personnel.

The Dove Fire broke out just before 3 p.m. on Sunday (7/26/26) on Highway 108 near Mill Villa Road, forcing evacuations and road closures in downtown Sonora. CAL FIRE updates this morning that the fire is 223 acres and one percent contained. Some evacuation orders have been downgraded, and roadways reopened. Those include the Mandatory Evacuation for Beretta Street from Washington/Restano/Mono to Lyons Road, which has been downgraded to a Warning. All other orders and warnings remain in place this morning. Highway 108 reopened last night to one-lane traffic control between Stockton Street and Wigwam Road. North Washington Street is open to Bradford Street but closed from there to Highway 108. Additionally, the highway has opened between Washington Street and Mono Way and between Stockton Street and 5th Ave in Jamestown.
