It is the third weekend in August, and there are many events planned for August 15th and 16th, 2026.
First tonight, Thursday, August 13 is the free Motherlode Brass and Reed Band Summer Concert in the air-conditioned fellowship hall of the “49er” church in Columbia. It’s going to be an entertaining evening with marches and other wonderful music to enjoy starting at 6:30 PM.
Friday is the Women Helping Other Women (WHOW) Ladies Bingo Night Out held at the Aronos Club in Sonora. The event will raise funds for their Surviving to Thriving Retreat for women who have experienced abuse and want to learn to thrive in life. Ticket details are here.
Friday is Movie Night in at the Tuolumne Branch Library hosted by Tuolumne Parks and Recreation District. This Friday the movie is Finding Nemo at 8:30 PM with free admission supported by concession stand sales, bench seating is available, or bring your beach chairs and blankets for the grass seating area. The Central Calaveras Firefighter’s Association is hosting its famous Drive-Thru Breakfast Burritos.

The Twain Harte Rotary is taking over Eproson Park Saturday for the Deep Pit BBQ. Get tickets now or at the event. There will be a raffle and silent auction and time to dance the night away. The event includes live music by the rock and roll, plus funk band, Agent on the Eproson Ball Field. There is no Summer Concert Series or Concert in the Pines this weekend. It is the 12th Annual Ebbetts Pass Moose Lodge Car show and Chili Cook-off, on Saturday. The “Anything on Wheels” show invites any year cars, motorcycles, classic cars, and crazy custom cars to enter. The show opens at 11 AM and ends at 4 PM, details are in the event listing here.
Over in Murphys, the Angels-Murphys Rotary Club presents its annual Shrimp Feed at Murphys Community Park. From 4 – 9 PM, attendees will indulge in an array of shrimp dishes, there will also be pasta options, salad, plenty of side dishes and dessert. Live music from The Fabulous Off Brothers and exciting large online silent auction and a raffle, will support community service projects. More details are here.
Fresh produce, handmade goods, unique treasures from local farmers, artisans, and young entrepreneurs will be found at local farmers’ markets: The Twain Harte Mountain Air Market continues weekly on Thursdays from 4 – 7 PM at Eproson Park. Tonight the music is by Gary Souza. This Friday is the Angels Camp Farmers’ Market from 4:30 – 7:30 PM at Utica Park with music by Stealing The Covers. Saturday morning the Sonora Farmers Market will be open from 7:30 – 11 AM. Sunday morning from 9 AM – 1 PM is the Murphys Park Farmers Market at Murphys Park.

This Saturday is also Groveland Community Services District (GCSD) Movies in the Park at Mary Laveroni Park. This Saturday’s movie is Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and it starts at dusk as detailed here.

Calaveras County Arts Council’s Music in the Parks Summer Concert Series is at a different park each week. August 19 the Jespersons will perform at Rail Road Flat Park.
Also on Wednesday, August 19, at the West Side Memorial Park in downtown Tuolumne City the market opens at 5 PM with classic rock, blues, soul and funk by Burn Permit from 6 PM – 8 PM.
