Census Reports: Farmers Getting Older

The average age of a California farmer, and the average size of a California farm have both increased.
Figures from the 2002 U.S. Census of Agriculture released this week, says the average California Farmer is 57 years old and operates a farm of about 350 acrea. Both numbers are up from the previous census, five years eariler. The number of California farms operated by Latinos jumped 45 percent.
