It is the last weekend in August, and there are many events planned for August 21st and 22nd, 2026.
First, on Thursday enjoy a free Summer Concert from the Motherlode Brass and Reed Band at Tuolumne Memorial Park in Tuolumne City. The fun evening of music will include marches and other wonderful tunes that you’re sure to love. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on the green grass under the tree-lined park and watch the summer magic unfold starting at 6:30 PM.
Sierra Seven Arts Alliance is hosting a regional touring exhibition featuring artists from across the Mother Lode called “From Here to There” at the Chakachi-no Learning Center in Jamestown. This Thursday there is a Speaking Circle on “The Artists’ Process” from 6 – 8 PM. This Friday from 6 – 8 PM is Open Mic Music Night and this Saturday from 5 – 8 PM is a “Get Your Groove On Dance Jam.” The exhibit and events will continue through September 18, 2026, gallery hours and more details are in the event listing here.
Friday learn more about how to join the Watershed Watch of Calaveras and become a citizen scientist, as part of a volunteer based water quality monitoring program. The Friday event aims to get Watershed Watch volunteers approved, teach them how to use water quality monitoring equipment, and connect volunteers through the day of learning. Friday at Mary Laveroni Park in Groveland the Lack Family will provide music for a free concert in the park. The event will also feature children’s games with prizes and food available for purchase. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the evening of live music.
Friday is the last Movie Night in at the Tuolumne Branch Library hosted by Tuolumne Parks and Recreation District. This Friday the movie is the 1994 Lion King at 8:30 PM with free admission supported by concession stand sales. Bench seating is available, or bring your beach chairs and blankets for the grass seating area as detailed in the event listing here.
The 6th Keep Calaveras Clean Litter Clean-up will be in San Andreas at Neilsen Park. As detailed here it will start at 9 AM this Saturday.
Twain Harte Area CERT Emergency Preparedness Training will be held this Saturday at the Twain Harte Community Center. The training will take place between 9 AM and noon as detailed here.
The Humane Society of Tuolumne County is hosting a Pawcasso Paint Party at 2 PM this Saturday. Learn painting techniques from the Mother Lode Art Association members while painting an adoptable shelter pet. Food and drinks are included there will also be a raffle. The event is held in Jamestown as detailed here.
At the Mother Lode Fairgrounds from 4 – 8 PM is the FOAC For the Love of Paws Fundraiser. The event expects over 300 guests, with live music by Blue Oak, BBQ by Sierra Smoke, and a variety of fundraising opportunities to raise funds and in support of animal rescue. Event organizers state, “The fundraising goal is $60,000, with every dollar going directly toward veterinary care, shelter operations, food, and transportation for animals in need.” Tickets have not sold out yet, details are in the event listing here.
Saturday a Fire Dance by ‘The Midnight Embers’ will be held at The Game Room in East Sonora. After the fire dance will be a concert by Pretty Kitty with special musical guests Bustard.
Saturday Alison Krauss And Union Station will play at Ironstone in Murphys.
Fresh produce, handmade goods, unique treasures from local farmers, artisans, and young entrepreneurs will be found at local farmers’ markets: This Friday is the Angels Camp Farmers’ Market from 4:30 – 7:30 PM at Utica Park. Saturday morning the Sonora Farmers Market will be open from 7:30 – 11 AM with music by John Watson and the Kids Corner hosted by Summerville Parent Nursery. Sunday morning from 9 AM – 1 PM is the Murphys Park Farmers Market at Murphys Park.

Friday is opening day for Sierra Repertory Theater’s Peter Pan Goes Wrong at the Fallon House Theatre in Columbia. Performances continue through September 19 details are here.
On Wednesday, September 2, at the West Side Memorial Park in downtown Tuolumne City the last market opens at 5 PM with Left Of Centre performing country and rock music from 6 PM – 8 PM.
Railtown 1897 Historic State Park is open with special Sunset Trains as detailed here, Columbia State Historic Park is offering town tours at 11 AM Saturdays, and High Country Sports Arena has public roller skating from 6-8 PM on Saturdays.
