Modesto Police Arrest 4 with Fake Money

Four alleged gang members have been arrested by Modesto Police… and they were caught with counterfeit money too.

Thursday evening, officers with the Modesto Police Street Crime Unit stopped a vehicle which had made numerous violations.

Upon a search, officers found twenty dollar bills they believed to be fake.

Investigation at a nearby convenience store revealed a videotape of the group trying to pay for sodas with a phony bill, but the store clerk used a counterfeit-bill-detection-pen and discovered it wasn´t real.

The group paid with real money and left the store… but the scene was caught on video surveillance… and all four were arrested.

Police advise shop owners to use caution in accepting money in their establishments… and say the incident shows not all gang activity is about drugs or violence.
