Calaveras County Man Drowns

A Calaveras County man drowned yesterday in the San Joaquin River in a park near Lathrop.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office says 48-year-old William Carillo of Rail Road Flat was having a picnic with his family, when his teenaged daughter was swimming in the river and started yelling for help. The man jumped in to save her, and he disappeared beneath the water.
The teen made it out ok.
Carillo’s body was found three hours later by search and rescue crews. An autopsy will be performed.
