Skateboard Ban Mulled

Skateboarders may not be welcome in downtown Merced if a new ordinance gets past the City Council. A proposed ban on skateboarding could go into effect as early as next Monday. The police department has received as many as 20 complaints about reckless skateboarding downtown. The ban would also apply to in-line skating and roller-skating in downtown Merced. The city council will have the final say on the matter.
