Fire Crews Revise Containment Estimate

A 700 acre wildfire in rural Siskiyou County is expected to be contained by Sunday. Fire officials last night estimated that the fire could be contained by Friday. But overnight, firefighters encountered more trouble with the steep, rugged terrain. Officials say firefighters are having problems backing down the hills. The blaze is burning about 30 miles south of the Oregon state line. The fire is about 25 percent contained. Slower winds and cooler weather is expected to help firefighters today. Meanwhile, wildfires that have scorched more than 45-thousand acres in Southern California are nearing containment.
