Controversial Textbook Bill Pulled
Sponsored by:
Legislation to give teachers more influence over the selection of textbooks and curriculum has been pulled from the Assembly floor. The measure´s sponsor, Assemblywoman Jackie Goldberg, pulled the bill last night. She said while the bill won´t clear the Assembly this year since it wasn´t approved by the Thursday night deadline, she may still try to revive the issue this session. The measure originally would have expanded collective bargaining to include textbook and curriculum choices. Goldberg changed that provision, but said opponents continue to attack the bill.
