Farm groups are expecting President Bush to sign the Farm Bill soon. The bill approved by a congressional conference committee last week sets federal agricultural policies for the next six years. It enhances spending on both traditional farm programs and land conservation. A California Farm Bureau spokesman says the final bill does not include a provision that he says threatened Western water rights.
