Sudden Oak Death May Be Spreading Throughout State

Scientists are trying to find out if sudden oak death in trees may be reaching the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. They found yellowish maple leaves in the foothills last fall, but haven´t matched DNA taken from the diseased leaves to the pathogen that causes sudden oak death. The disease has killed tens of thousands of California´s prized tan and black and coast live oaks.
