Group Sues Over Fertilizer

A San Francisco environmental group is suing an Arizona fertilizer company, saying the firm sold California consumers a toxic home fertilizer. The suit claims a fertilizer manufactured by Ironite Products Company contains levels of arsenic and lead that exceed regulations set by the state. The lawsuit also says the company is deceiving consumers through an advertising campaign promoting the fertilizer as safe. The group also claims labels on Ironite omit information about the contents of heavy metals in the fertilizer, which is required by California law.
