A state appeals court has reinstated an 80 (m) million-dollar lawsuit that claims Verizon California bilked telephone customers by charging them rent for obsolete equipment. A judge earlier had thrown out the case on grounds that the state’s Public Utilities Commission had jurisdiction. The suit was filed two years ago and contends that charges for obsolete equipment were hidden in the bill and that senior citizens and those on fixed incomes were the hardest hit.
