Stayner Case Heads For Jury Room
Cary Stayner´s lawyer is expected to conclude her closing arguments today in the penalty phase of the Yosemite killer´s trial. 41-year-old Stayner faces the death penalty. He was convicted in August of three counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances for killing 42-year-old Carole Sund, her 15-year-old daughter Juli, and their Argentine family friend, 16-year-old Silvina Pelosso. The trio was killed outside Yosemite National Park in February 1999. The same jury that convicted him of the murders and later found him sane must now decide whether he should die in prison or take his place in line on California´s Death Row.
