Death Penalty Will be Sought for Stayner

Prosecutors will seek the death penalty for Cary Stayner in the murders of three Yosemite Park
tourists.
At his arraignment in a tiny courthouse in Mariposa, Stayner plead innocent to the February 1999 slayings of Carole Sund, her daughter Juli
and family friend Silvina Pelosso.
Federal prosecutors earlier dropped their bid for Stayner´s execution in a plea bargain. He was sentenced to life in
prison for the murder of naturalist Joie Armstrong.
The Mariposa trial is set to begin February 25th.
