White Fire Contained/Fire Restrictions Extended
Update: The National Forest Service reports the White Fire, east of Strawberry in the Stanislaus National Forest is fully controlled on August 24. It burned 185 acres of timber.
Original Aug 23: U-S Forest Service crews are continuing to close the loop on the “White” fire in the Stanislaus National Forest. The 185-acre blaze in a stand of timber and brush is expected to be out by 6:00 tonight.
The Forest Service has extended fire restrictions to elevations up to 7,000 feet in the Groveland, Mi-Wuk, Summit and Calaveras Ranger districts of the Stanislaus National Forest. That means no campfires, no smoking, no welding of heavy equipment, and no explosive use, except by specific permit.
