Sonora, CA — Air resources battling a grass fire in the area of Covey Circle and Cabezut Road in Sonora have been released back to base.

CAL Fire reports the forward rate of spread has been stopped on the 1-2 acre fire. There were several structures in the area that were initially threatened, but no damage has been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. You will want to avoid the area this evening, as several firefighters will remain on scene for mop up.

A special thanks to community news partners Michele Hurger and Lisa Mayo for sending in photos of the fire. Pictures can be e-mailed to news@clarkebroadcasting.com.
