Evacuations In Mariposa County

Mariposa County, CA — Columbia air resources are helping to battle a vegetation fire on the Mariposa-Madera County line.
The Mariposa Sheriff’s Office is evacuating the Ponderosa Basin subdivision. However, there were no details on how many homes that involves. A Red Cross Shelter is located at the New Life Christian Church on Cole Rd.
The flames broke out on Highway 49 near the William Sell Bridge by the Chowchilla River. A section of the highway is closed. There is no word on size, but Cal Fire reports the flames are moving at a fast rate of spread.

Update 2:15 pm: Cal Fire reports the fire is 50 acre along Highway 49 at Harris Rd, 10 miles east of Mariposa.
