Underground Power Lines Planned For Groveland Area

Sponsored by:

Groveland, CA — Groveland has been hit hard with power outages over recent years, including an extended incident two years ago that had big economic impacts over the Independence Day holiday.

On Mother Lode Views this past weekend, District Four Supervisor Kathleen Haff announced that she has received word that PG&E will be making some significant infrastructure upgrades in that area.

She said, “In the fiscal year 2025-26, which is next fiscal year, we’re going to have some projects that PG&E is going to put on in the Big Oak Flat/Groveland area. There will be between 13-16 miles of undergrounding (power lines) in Pine Mountain Lake and Groveland.”

Haff continued, “There is also something called ‘overhead hardening,’ where the wires are wrapped and they have bigger poles, and that project will be about nine miles long, from Groveland to Big Oak Flat.”

They are among some of the specific happenings/projects she highlighted in the Groveland area. She also talked about countywide issues like housing, fire services, and long-term budgetary challenges.
