Middle of November Events and Fundraisers
There are many events planned for the weekend of November 16th, and 17th. First, the Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center is hosting a De-Stress Fest for the youth and community. All ages, including trusted adults, are welcome. Activities will include; Silent Disco, Bracelet Making, Book Fair, Mural Painting and more.
Friday at 7 PM Sonora will host Calaveras High in the Sac Joaquin Division 6 playoffs at Dunlavy Field. Sonora Wildcats Football games air live on KVML 1450AM/102.7 FM, with Nick Stuart and Zeb Drivdahl, listen online here. Summerville is in in the Sac Joaquin Division 7 playoffs and will host the Gustine Reds at 7 PM. Summerville High football airs live on 93.5 KKBN with Mike Woicicki and Mike Rodgers.
Saturday is Stuff the Bus in the Sonora Wal-Mart parking lot. The “Stuff the Bus” project aims to support unsheltered and struggling people by collecting; jackets, sweaters, rubber boots, hats and beanies, warm socks, tarps, blankets, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, tents, hand warmers, personal hygiene items, flashlights and headlamps, propane canisters and batteries. Saturday is the dedication of the Women’s Veterans Memorial at 10am in Twain Harte. The keynote speaker will be California Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Ms. Lindsey Sin. who is a Navy Veteran. A reception will follow, a map is in the event listing here.
Aronos Research Club sponsors a monthly Barn Dance open to the public and all ages for a suggested $7 donation. Details are here.
The Sip and Walk Holiday Shop is a benefit for the Josh Ditler Memorial Scholarship and the Mike Harris Memorial Toy Drive. Bring a unwrapped toy and be entered in a raffle. The raffle features a week stay in Cabo San Lucas, a live edge custom sofa table, custom metal fire pit, roto tiller, hunting jacket, Aspen Meadow trail rides, Dodge Ridge lift tickets and many other items. Get a photo with Santa from 6:30-7:30pm.

Summerville High and Connections Visual and Performing Arts Academy will present “Descendants” at Summerville, today and Friday at 7 pm and Saturday at 2 pm and 7 pm.
The Mountain Youth and Community Theatre in Sonora (also known as MYACT) presents “Anastasia the Musical: Youth Edition”. This play is a magical retelling of the story of the lost princess, Anastasia Romanov. This is an all-ages event. Performances are Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the 17th. Join Fourth Wall Entertainment for “East of Oz” the new twist on the old tale is what might have happened if Dorothy’s house had landed on the Wicked Witch of the West instead of East. The dystopian version of Oz features familiar characters who tangle with the Wicked Witch of the East in this jukebox musical. Performances run through Nov. 17 on Friday and Saturday nights at 7pm, matinees on Sunday at 2 pm.
Sunday is the Celebration Ringers Handbell Choir presents a Holiday Concert at 1:30pm at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Murphys. The festive event is directed by Bryce Custudio.
The Leonids Meteor Shower will peak on November 18th. The Mother Lode skies are perfect for star watching.
