Booking Clerks Avoid Layoffs
Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Supervisors voted 5-0 to restore six booking clerk positions with the Sheriff’s Office that were originally set for elimination.
The County will receive $415,000 in unexpected funding from a Rural Sheriff’s Grant program, which was part of the state budget signed last week by Governor Jerry Brown. Tuolumne County Under Sheriff Keith Lunney told the Supervisors that the booking clerk positions are important, as many state prisoners are expected to come to the local level as part of the state’s realignment plan.
The positions will cost $370,000, and the remaining $45,000 going into county contingency funds.
