“Drop Off Your Drugs” Day Coming

Sponsored by:

Angels Camp, CA — “Drop Off Your Drugs” Day is coming to a location near you in Calaveras County this weekend.

“Drop Off Your Drugs” Day is an opportunity to rid your residence of any drugs that are or might be abused. It could be a “street” drug such as methamphetamine or a “prescribed” drug like vicodin.

No names will be taken and no questions will be asked. Saturday will be the same as voluntary weapon turn-in days.

A Calaveras County survey conducted by the Sheriff’s Department, Mark Twain-St. Joseph’s Hospital and the County Schools Office indicates that 35 percent of 11th graders have reported using marijuana in the last 30 days. That is 10 percent higher than the state average and 15 percent above the national average.

From 9am-noon drugs may be dropped off in Murphys at the Feeney Park parking lot, in Copperopolis at the Lake Tulloch Shopping Center and in Angels Camp at the Police Department.

From 1:30-5pm there will be drop-off points at the West Point Elementary School and in San Andreas at the Toyon Middle School parking lot.
