New Trails At New Melones
Tuttletown, CA – The Bureau of Reclamation received $3.4 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to make upgrades around New Melones.
Saturday morning park officials unveiled six miles of new hiking trails that were started this past June. Park Ranger Tracy Neal gave visitors a walking tour and answered questions along the way.
The B.O.R. says 26 temporary employees were hired with stimulus funds, and the workers were assigned to four different crews. They focused on trail construction and improvement, accessibility improvements for people with disabilities, safety barrier installation and boundary inspection and surveying.
Visitors can receive a map of the new trails when arriving at New Melones.
