OES Coordinator: Be Prepared For More Winter Weather

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Additional snow arrived in the Mother Lode overnight and even more precipitation is on the way.

The National Weather Service says a heavier storm is projected to move in late Saturday evening and continue into early next week. It will bring a mix of snow, rain and heavy winds.

“It is not a good time to be out driving because we anticipate there will be more downed power lines and trees blocking roadways,” says Tuolumne County OES Coordinator Kathleen Rustrum. “If you need to get supplies take advantage of the daylight and storm windows.”

Rustrum says motorists should carry chains at all times, even if the vehicle is equipped with four wheel drive. It is also recommended to remain on major roads and travel with warm blankets and coats.
