Furloughs Affect Snow Removal
Sonora, CA — The state budget crisis has affected snowfall removal today.
“It appears that CALTRANS has some workforce on furlough so we have fewer snow plows than normal,” says Deputy Tuolumne County Administrator Daniel Richardson. “It is important that everyone carries chains, and makes sure to put them on if the road looks slick.”
He says all available Public Works employees and equipment are out clearing the roads.
The Highway Patrol has been working to assist multiple collisions occurring due to the snowfall. Motorists that do not have to be on the road this morning and early afternoon are being recommended to stay at home.
