The “”Other”” Fires

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — In addition to the 500-plus acre North Mountain Fire in the Groveland Ranger District, Stanislaus National Forest Public Affairs Officer Pat Kaunert says 10 other lightning caused fires are being fought by crews in the Mother Lode.

That list would include several small fires in Bear Valley only totaling one-tenth of an acre. Crews are also working on a three to five acre fire in the Mt. Knight area 11 miles northeast of Columbia. In addition there is a five acre fire near the Duckwall Lookout seven miles east of Tuolumne. Finally there are a couple of small fires adjacent to the North Mountain Fire the largest of which is the two-to- five acre Plum Flat Fire.

Kaunert adds that none of the fires, including the North Mountain, are threating any foothill communities.
