Nine Mother Lode D.U.I.’s Recorded Over The Weekend
Sonora-San Andreas, CA — Nine driving-under-the-influence citations were recorded over the weekend in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties respectively.
In Tuolumne County six D.U.I.´s were written by patrolling officers. According to Officer Tom Wills most of those citations were written by regular beat officers rather than those who had been financed through two grants.
In Calaveras County CHP Officer Jaime “Cas” Castillo states that three drivers were arrested for driving-under-the-influence while another individual was arrested for public intoxication.
Overall there were five collisions with one major injury.
16 year old Justin Delap of West Point lost control of his 1989 Suzuki motorcycle when he approached a berm on a dirt road off Winton Rd. Delap struck the berm becoming airborne. He was ejected and sustained severe injuries including head injuries. He was not wearing a protective helmet.
Delap was initially treated at the West Point Fire Station and then air-lifted to Modesto Memorial Hospital.
