Lobby Effort For Secure Rural Schools
Sonora, Ca — A contingency from Tuolumne County will be heading to our nation´s capitol next month to lobby for reauthorization of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self Determination Act.
Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Joe Silva has learned that funding could be included in either a tax extender package or an upcoming appropriations bill.
?Like I have said before, it is like we are in the fourth quarter, and we cannot give up,? says Silva.
Silva says a group school and county officials are planning to depart for Washington, DC on September 21. If approved by lawmakers, Tuolumne County would receive $2.5 million for roads and schools.
