Powell Pleads Guilty To Charges Stemming From June 14 Accident
Sonora, Ca — 30-year-old Amber Rae Powell has pleaded guilty to DUI, child abuse and being a habitual traffic offender for a traffic accident occurring back on Saturday, June 14th.
Initially Powell was spotted eastbound on Hwy 108 in the Jamestown area traveling between 75-80 mph. According to the CHP report she proceeded east and ran the red light at the S. Washington St. signal colliding with a vehicle driven by 59-year-old John R. Steely of Soulsbyville.
Powell´s vehicle veered to the right and collided with the guard rail at the southeast corner of the intersection. Powell had three children in the vehicle, and all of them suffered injuries. The collision occurred during the two o´clock hour in the afternoon.
Powell was scheduled to face trial beginning Wednesday, but pleaded guilty during her trial readiness conference. Sentencing will be handed down at a later date.
