Calaveras Sexual Assault Victims Can Now Be Examined In County
San Andreas, Ca — Thanks to a partnership among various agencies, Calaveras County sexual assault victims are now able to seek treatment at Mark Twain St. Joseph´s Hospital, rather than having to travel to U.C. Davis
The Sexual Assault Response Team is a joint effort between the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department, Angels Camp PD, the District Attorney´s Office, Public Health, Child Welfare Services, Mark Twain St. Joseph´s Hospital and U.C. Davis.
Lt. Gary Kuntz with the Sheriff´s Department says that sexual assault patients can go to Mark Twain St. Joseph´s Hospital, and be examined by a doctor from U.C. Davis via video conferencing.
Kuntz says that there were 11 sexual assault cases in Calaveras County last year, and had this program been in place it would have saved the County approximately $38,000.
