Agency Helps Residents Through Foreclosure Process

Sponsored by:

Sonora, Ca — A growing number of people are becoming the victims of scam artists that are offering services to help get through the home foreclosure process.

?Don´t accept someone´s services and pay for it up front,? says A-TCAA Housing Resources Director Beetle Barbour. ?You don´t need to pay for these services at all.?

Through funding from the California Home Ownership Preservation Initiative, the non-profit Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency is offering free housing counseling for those who are going through a foreclosure. Barbour says that the counselor will work with the homeowner and lender and attempt to negotiate the best outcome.

In the last year, 187 homes have been lost in Tuolumne County through foreclosure. The number is three times higher than the previous 12 month span. For more information on A-TCAA´s service, you can call 209-533-1397, ext. 231.
