Columbia Professor Showcases Images From Churches

Sponsored by:

Columbia, Ca — A local professor has created an exhibit showcasing the numerous stained glass windows on display at churches across Tuolumne County.

Columbia College´s Laurie Sylwester has worked to capture the best sunlight on each window and her photos are now available for view at the College´s Manzanita Rotunda until December 12.

The exhibit is designed to represent the style and shape of windows in each church. St. James Anglican Church in Sonora (Red Church on Washington Street) has tall narrow lancets. Windows at St. Patrick´s Catholic Church in Sonora are wider with semicircular top sections. United Methodist Church of Sonora has several rectangular windows.

Many other churches are also on display. The Manzanita Rotunda is open from 8am-7pm on Monday through Thursday, and 8am-4:30pm on Friday.
