Scouting Celebrated In Mother Lode
Angels Camp, CA — Boy Scout supporters gathered today in Calaveras and Tuolumne counties to raise funds for the Mother Lode´s Golden Heritage District.
The district has 825 youth participants in both counties.
American League MVP and Cy Young Award winner Vida Blue was guest speaker at two fundraising events Wednesday.
District Chairman, also known as Calaveras County´s Administrative Officer Tom Mitchell, served as master of ceremonies testing attendees on their Boy Scout and Vida Blue trivia.
Boy Scout Field Director Darrell Pederson gave an update on the state of the district. Pederson says in 2007, among other things, the district will work on its new soccer program.
And Greater Yosemite Council Scout Executive Bob Dees spoke to thank the group for supporting scouts. Dees says if more kids were in scouting, it would be a better world.
