Sonora Celebrates National Day Of Prayer
Sonora, CA — Courthouse Park in downtown Sonora celebrated the National Day of Prayer Thursday evening.
Several hundred Mother Lode residents turned out on the 56th anniversary of the National Day of Prayer. Pastor Lauren Laumer of Sonora´s Christian Heights Assembly of God Church said the purpose of the National Day of Prayer is to, “Seek the Lord and bring healing to our land.”
Pastor Laumer added that the keynote verse for this year´s celebration is 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear them from heaven. I will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Prayers were lifted up for the church, the government, the family, schools, the military and the media.
During the noon hour a similar recognition of the National Day of Prayer was held at the Government Center in San Andreas. Early Thursday morning more than 300 people turned out at Sierra Bible Church in Sonora to kick off the day long event.
