9-Year Old Drowns At New Hogan Reservoir
Valley Springs, CA — The Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department is reporting that a nine-year old Stockton girl drowned at New Hogan Reservoir Sunday.
The Coroner´s Office has positively identified the girl as Emily Mao Vang.
Officials say the girl was swimming with her family in the Fiddleneck day use area when she was overcome by the wake of a passing boat. Her family reported she went under and never came back up. A park ranger and nearby citizen attempted to find the child but were unsuccessful.
A dive team from the Sheriff´s Department recovered Emily´s body one hour after she was last seen. It is estimated she drowned in 10 feet of water.
