Copperopolis Resident Killed In Friday Evening Accident

Jamestown, CA — 47 year old Mitchell Ratto of Copperopolis was killed late Friday evening when he was involved in a two vehicle accident on O´Brynes Ferry Rd.
Ratto was headed northbound at 10:45 three-quarters of a mile south of the Calaveras County line when his 1987 Toyota pickup went off the east side of the road into gravel. The vehicle hit a wood and metal guardrail.
Ratto overcorrected and his vehicle turned into the southbound lane where it was struck broadside by a 1989 GMC Suburban driven by 35 year old Aaron Khachigan of Copperopolis. Ratto´s vehicle went off an embankment and rolled over.
According to the C.H.P. report Ratto was not wearing his seat belt.
