NWS Issues Local Warning About Smoke
Sacramento, Ca — A northeasterly wind flow across the Sierra Nevada is pushing a considerable amount of smoke into areas of the foothills.
According to the National Weather Service, the smoke is from the Moonlight Fire, located southeast of Susanville. Localized areas of dense smoke, with visibilities dropping below one mile, may be encountered across the foothills and San Joaquin Valley. The smoky conditions will likely persist through tonight and into tomorrow morning.
The NWS is encouraging anyone who may be vulnerable to respiratory stress to take precautions. This includes staying indoors, and avoiding strenuous physical activity.
