“Hire A Hero, Hire A Vet” Draws Crowd To Sonora Elks Lodge

Sonora, Ca — September 8th has been proclaimed “Veteran´s Outreach Day” by the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors.

In correlation, “Hire a Hero, Hire a Vet,” is the title of a special event taking place at the Sonora Elks Lodge. It is an opportunity for war veterans to learn about employment and educational opportunities available in the community, as well as find out what types of benefits they are entitled too.

Taking part are approximately 20 businesses and 25 service organizations.

Organizer Frank Smart says he is very pleased with the turnout. He notes that 40 veterans stopped by during the first two hours. The event began at 10am and will continue until 3pm. Smart says that the plan is for it to become an annual event in the community.
