Federal Officals Close Salambo Mine Area After Sunset
Folsom, CA — Federal authorities are closing an 80-acre parcel of land in Tuolumne County near Don Pedro Reservoir to public use after sunset.
Officials with the Bureau of Land Management say they have received numerous complaints from residents near the Salambo Mine area of dangerous use of firearms, off-road vehicle use and loud parties with large bonfires.
The agency says the closure is being put into place to protect public safety and wildlife habitat. The area will be fenced off and posted with warning signs.
The BLM says anyone violating the night-time closures could be subject to a one thousand-dollar fine and up to a year in prison.
