Multiple Emergencies Spread CDF County Fire Too Thin
Sonora, CA — A strange sequence of events Wednesday has CDF Tuolumne County Fire Department Battalion Chief Craig Konklin worried about fire coverage for the next two months.
With multiple emergencies happening around the county, including an explosives call, and a plane crash, it did not leave many resources to fight a structure fire in Chinese Camp.
Konklin says that until we are in fire season, which could be put off until July, he is relying on volunteers that just aren´t there.
Konklin feels that had there not been other emergencies happening at the time of the Angels Camp fire the historic school house may not have been a total loss.
Konklin says that volunteers are hard to come by; however until fire season hits, the fire stations are not fully staffed, leaving the possibility of poor fire and emergency coverage.
