The head of the bi-state Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is questioning a bill to withdraw Nevada from a decades-old compact with California that formed the TRPA.
Juan Palma says the problem with the bill is that it creates different rules for different parts of Tahoe – and the lake is one body of water that requires uniform rules. Assemblywoman Sharron Angle proposed the TRPA pullout plan. She says the agency is loaded with bureaucracy, and other protections are in place to protect the lake.
Angle also says some of the TRPA´s regulations aren´t based on fact. She says one rule that limits huge “trophy homes” along the lake´s shore seemed to be based on “class envy and hyper-environmentalism.”
